How the jewel rings turn
Ruby set
A tight inner ring. Short taps keep it from slipping off the beat.
Gold hoop
The wide ring carries the melody. Hold a moment longer before you strike.
Violet band
A late flourish. Miss it and the chord sours; catch it and the hall cheers.
Encore mark
Best runs stay on the playbill until you beat them. Practice spins never count.
